House Mom – Bambi Shanks

I would like to introduce you to Bambi Shanks who is our current Delta Tau Delta House Director. Bambi has been representing the Delts at the University of Kansas for the past 10 years. Her primary responsibilities include being a “Mom” for the current members, representing our fraternity within the KU community, and collaborating closely with our alumni housing corporation board to improve and maintain the Shelter. Besides all of her day-to-day responsibilities, we are extremely grateful for her ability to create an environment that provides our members with a safe environment while encouraging every member to achieve personal growth and academic success.

Bambi enjoys working on Shelter improvement projects, supporting, and encouraging the men of Delt while creating lasting memories. She loves spending time with her grandson, walking the dogs, traveling, and reading.

Bambi is a great resource to all family members and alumni. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email her at bambilynn16@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
PJ Arnold ’91
Housing Corporation President

Mom’s Club

The Delta Tau Delta Mom’s Club is excited to welcome you and your sons to the Delt House for the 2024-2025 school year.  Mom’s Club was formed to help supplement both the house and the members with extra perks throughout the year.  Three big events Mom’s Club coordinates are Family Day, Dad’s Day and Mom’s Day.  Other things we do for the boys are providing food and snacks on the weekends or late nights when the occasion calls for it, such as finals week or Super Bowl Sunday.  We also like to provide the comforts of home by decorating the house for the holidays, which the boys all love and the house always looks amazing.

With your support, every dollar contributed via the yearly dues made by the parents or through any fundraising we do throughout the year, goes directly back to help make the Delt House the best experience possible for our boys.  In prior years, we have purchased items for the house that the guys are wanting such as TVs and mounts for outdoors and rec room, sports equipment and have even covered part of the expense for the outdoor bar and furniture in the rec room.  The boys are always extremely appreciative of this support!

In addition to Mom’s Club planning events and helping with extra perks throughout the school year, we will provide you all with updates on important events, activities and volunteer opportunities that we may need your help with.  Our main form of communication will be through this website as well as our GroupMe app.  We are in close communication with the Delt Executive Committee, the Delt Housing Corp, and our House Mom, Bambi.  There will be lots of opportunities for parents to be involved throughout the year.  We rely on each of you to help make our events special, so please be on the lookout for future communications that offer ways to volunteer.  Here’s to a great school year and welcome to Delt!

HISTORY

It was 1858 at Bethany College in what is now northern West Virginia. The Neotrophian Literary Society, an organization that allowed students to practice and demonstrate their skills in poetry, public speaking and writing essays, voted to give a prize. But the members of another organization held control over the Neotrophian Society, and they fixed the vote.

Eight men were not content to be idle and let this continue. Angered by these unscrupulous tactics, they responded by forming a secret society at the college. Its initial goal was to wrestle control from the Neotrophian Society away from a group of unjust students and return it to the control of the student population, as well as to bond the student body through respect and common values. These men were drawn together by common aims and brotherly regard. They came to be known on the campus only by the Greek letters Delta Tau Delta. They founded an organization based on the principles of truth, courage, faith and power. These principles guided the Fraternity through its beginnings.

Since 1858, the Fraternity has spread to nearly 200 campuses, with more than 130 active chapters and colonies comprised of roughly 10,000 students. More than 170,000 men have joined the brotherhood of Delta Tau Delta since its founding.
